mySymptoms Food Diary App Reviews

I see great potential

This app has everything I need to log my food, medications, symptoms, even bowel movements!! Requires a LOT of food and medication ingredients input, but hopefully with the help of the community a larger database can be built. Contacting the developers to confirm.

Really good app!

Im trying to figure out what foods may or may not irritate my stomach because I have chrons disease. This app makes it soooo easy for me. I only wish entering foods was a little simpler. But it isnt a big deal. Really useful, easy to use, smart.

Hard to figure out

Extremely confusing to learn

Great for "complicated bodies"

If youre someone with many interrelating or not symptoms with food/other sensitivities great for charting full range- especially if you are doing this anything across apps and written notes like I have been. As other reviewers have said its a bit demanding but I dont mind that - few updates I would like them to make as they develop like being able to take photos and sync sleep apps. Havent used the raw data yet curious for that

Very helpful and intuitive

Exporting the data is easy so you can sent details to your medical professional. Highly recommend.

Super

I have had migraines for years and I am doing a three week elimination diet and this app is a lifesaver. Easy functionality in very well laid out.

Just what I needed

Helps me keep track of my food, exercise, sleep, supplements, and symptoms all in one! Super easy to use once youve added in your regular foods/vitamins.

Awesome App

Extremely easy app that helps you track your food and bowel movements.

Great App

I got this to figure out what foods were upsetting my stomach. I have a few suspects based on the apps analytics.

Great app to keep track of diet

The app makes it very easy to add all of my intake to a diary, I think that the analysis could be a little better but maybe it needs more time to record my foods and symptoms? I really live the barcode scan feature....one of the best parts of the app!

Wonderful App!

Started a low FODMAP diet and this app has been great for tracking my symptoms in order to determine what my trigger(s) might be. The database appears to be improving as people share what they consume. Yes, you might have to type an item in once, but then it is there. One suggestion for improvement would be to add "urination" to track frequency and duration. (My doctor asked for this info.). Besides, it makes sense to track output since we can track input ("drinks") and because "bowel" is also tracked.

Easy to send reports to my doctor

Great for tracking everything: food, sleep, headaches, bowel movements. I use this to send reports to my nutrition doctor with ease. Could use a better calorie tracking system however.

Helpful

This app is helpful for recording your food and everything, but I thought it was supposed to help you figure out what offends your stomach, and it doesnt. Maybe it just hasnt, yet, but Ive had it for a while and I never see any results. At least I can show my GI Doctor the list and symptoms and everything, but I doubt theyre going to want to go through it all on my phone. Itd be even better if you could somehow print the diary, and not just by screen-shotting it (because that doesnt show everything).

If you suffer from IBS...

...then you need to figure out whats irritating your gut. Ive tried to keep a food intake diary on paper before, without success. This app is the solution...you always have your phone with you so theres no difficulty in recording everything you need to record.

exactly what I want

Just one quick question. Analysis window being 24 hours. Is that the right time window?

Helped Me

I have been lactose intolerant for about a year or so and my family kept saying go to the doctor...okay I get it. But if I go what do I say without any facts. I never considered IBS-D since its very uncommon for a man to have it. So my wife suggested this app. I started using it just like it said. I have been amazed in my progress after stopping to eat the foods with a high score of problematic, the most recent of which was mustard. Now when I go to see my doctor in about a month I will have the facts and go from there.

Decent app

It takes a little time to learn to use it and customize it. I primarily use it as a food journal since I dont have a lot of symptoms to need to track (I couldnt find a basic food journal that wasnt like a calorie counter - I just need to track when and what I eat!) Once you get used to the format, it is pretty easy to customize and navigate. Having a shared food database is helpful.

Great app that has helped me bunches!

I was just recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in July at only 20 and was looking for something that would help me control my symptoms as well as monitor my bowel movements and being user friendly and organized! This is a great app for anyone who has experienced any IBS or IBD symptoms because I ALWAYS have my phone on me theres no more worries about missing that quick snack I had on the run or those seemingly simple symptoms until its too late. I like how each thing has their own category and it learns your normal foods and symptoms and bowel movements over time. I also like how it is organized and is easy to see what trends could be causing the symptoms and I like that you can print off monthly reports to show your doctor and dietician! I think its also a nice idea that they give you samples of what kind of bowel movements you have so that you can just choose the one closest to your movement and no more wondering how much information you should be collecting for each movement! I was worried when I was diagnosed that this would control my whole life but with this app I feel like I have some control over my health again and it feels empowering!

Good app

I love it. It easy to log my food journey

Very Nice, but getting too cluttered

This app has really helped clarify my food and drink choices, and exercise habits. After only a couple of weeks of logging its clear that some of my meal choices have been lacking in one thing or another, particularly protein, which explains why my stomach cramps right after eating sometimes. The only thing Im really very unhappy about is that the favorites tab does not list my favorite injuries. Instead it lists everyones entries, therefore Im having to scroll through forever or add specific entries for why Im using this take your app in the first place… Which is to log the foods/type of food and not the actual amount of every food. I just wish that, for instance, when I search for a food such as onions, that I dont have to see everyone elses quarter cup, half cup, 1 cup, 2 tablespoons, etc., etc., etc before finding a simple entry of "onions". This is becoming increasingly frustrating to me as I continue to use the app and more people use the app.
